"Big Al" Albert W. Hanaway

Memorial services for Albert Wesley Hanaway, 83, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Full military honors will follow the services. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Hanaway died Saturday, May 16, 2009, in NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. He was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Brook, Ind., to the late Herbert and Mary Vlurick Hanaway Mr. Hanaway was a retired chief engineer and a member of the Methodist church. He was a member of VFW Post 6296 and a member of the Masonic Lodge. His family includes his wife, Joyce Phillips Hanaway; a son, Rick Hanaway; a granddaughter, Lisa Leckron; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Hanaway, and three brothers, Jesse, Terry and Arthur Hanaway. Rev. Ken Haney will officiate at the services.
