Betty Smith

Funeral services for Betty Jo Smith, age 89 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday April 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Charles Cook will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time. Betty passed away Thursday morning April 14, 2022 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born August 4, 1932 in Manchester, TN to the late Earnest Waldon and Bessie Lowery Floyd. Betty was a member of Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church for over 45 years. "Ma Betty" as she was affectionately known by family and friends served as a Sunday School teacher for 25 years. She was retired from food service at Capshaw Elementary School. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Clinton and Angie (Tony) Gambrell; son, Bo (Glinda) Brown all of Cookeville; two sisters, Helen (Don) Hutchings of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Ola Yates of McMinnville, TN; half brother, Tim Floyd; brother-in-law, John England; 14 grandchildren, Bradley Boles, Jacqueline Parker, Kristi (Fred) Spicer, Tenneal (Cannon) Fuller, Shaun Dunn, Greg (Dana) Earhart, Troy Martin, Jeremy Vinson, Jonathan, Vinson, Jessica Vinson, Katrina (Tyler) Cross, Fred Vinson, Timmy Vinson, and Macie Beth Anderson; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and step-son, Kevin Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Brown Smith; two daughters, Debe Kendall and Jeanette Searle; son, Michael Vinson, sister, Francis England; grandson, Jason Clinton.
