BAXTER-Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Ruth Roberts, age 79 of Baxter, will be held Tuesday, December 22 at 11 am from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Marsh officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 8 pm and after 9 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Roberts died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at her home. She was born April 10, 1936 in Baxter, TN to the late Charlie Edward and Mattie Lou Allen Dyer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Linda Dyer Lafever and a brother Ralph Dyer. She was a 1954 graduate of Baxter Seminary. She attended Baxter First Church of God. She was a retired Dispatcher with the Tennessee Highway Patrol with twenty-three years of service, she worked the midnight shift and was known as "Miss Betty". She is survived by her husband of thirty-one years Kenneth Ray Roberts (Married February 10, 1984 in Baxter) of Baxter, daughter and son-in-law Jo Ann and Mike Deckard of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law Lynell and Christie Elmore of Baxter, step-son Danny Roberts of Cookeville, brother and sister-in-law Ed and Shirley Dyer of Baxter, grandchildren: Jason Robert (Jennifer) Gentry of East Palatka, FL., Charles William Gentry of Cookeville, Ashley LeAnn Elmore of Homestead, FL, Alyssa Lynn Elmore of Cookeville, Elaini Ruth Elmore and William Andrew Elmore both of Baxter, step-grandchildren: Dustin (Amy) Roberts, Deann and Clayton Peek all of Cookeville, great-grandson: Jason Samuel Gentry, step-great-grandchildren: Ali Beth Roberts, Parker Roberts and Thomas Peek. Active Pallbearers will be Jason and Charles Gentry, Andrew and Alyssa Elmore, Kim Dyer Montgomery, Jake Wade and Brandon Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tennessee Highway Patrol (Active and Retired) and Putnam EMS Personnel. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
