COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Betty Lou Hunter, 71, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, at Eastwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Algood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at Eastwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Hunter died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. She was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Albany, Ky. to the late Rube and Flossie York. Mrs. Hunter was retired from the Putnam County school system after 20 years of service. She also worked for Acme Boot and Shirt Factory in Livingston. Mrs. Hunter was a charter member of Eastwood Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Her family includes two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff Hunter and Bruce and Patricia Hunter, all of Cookeville; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Francis Gregory of Cookeville; three grandsons, Scotty, Jeffrey and Brandon Hunter, all of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Saundra Henry; and three close friends, Jan Thompson, Shirley Henley and Lavone Derrosset. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis Hunter; two sisters, Josephine Ruddy and Reba Knoph; and a brother, James York. Pallbearers will be Michael Green, Willie Smith, Michael Clark, Carlos Walker, Jeff Null and Wayne Upchurch. Bros. Bob Pharris and Carlos Walker will officiate at the services.
