Funeral Services for Betty Lee Gantt, age 72 of Baxter, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home, with burial following in the Judd Cemetery off Baxter Road. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, December 6, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Gantt died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born October 18, 1939 in Mooresville, West Virginia to the late George W. and Pearl (Jones) Johnson. Mrs. Gantt was a faithful member of Bethlehem Church of Christ. She had worked for Acme Boot in the past, and was retired from Russell Stover. Betty is survived by her husband, Loy David Gantt, two children, Marcus (Brenda) Gantt of Baxter, and Cheryl Gantt of Cookeville. She is also survived by three sisters, Jean Kennedy of Wana, W. VA., Ruth Johnson of Fairview, W. VA., and Rose Caltrider of Parkersburg, W. VA; three brothers, John (Belinda) Johnson of Washington, D. C., Melvin (Doris) Johnson of Morgantown, W. VA, and Jack (Nell) Johnson, of Mooresville, W. VA. Betty leaves two grandchildren, Caleb Logan Gantt and Stephanie (Ricky) Walker, as well as a very close niece, Becky Caltrider. She also leaves a host of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Jim, Robert, and Donzel Johnson. Pallbearers will be members of the family and friends. Brother Stanley Gantt will be conducting the service.
