Betty Jenkins Dooley

A Memorial Service has been scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home for Mrs. Dooley. Betty Bryan Jenkins Dooley was born September 8, 1925 in Fancher's Mill Community of White County. She passed away October 22, 2009 at home from complications of ALS. Betty was the second daughter of the late Joe Jenkins and Sally Bryan Jenkins. She attended elementary schools in rural White County and graduated from White County High School in 1943 where she was an honor student and drum majorette for the band. She worked as a secretary at the Federal Land Bank in White County until her marriage. After raising her family, she worked at J C Penney, The Knit Shop, and The Yarn Barn. She was a certified needlework instructor. She was a member of Collegeside Church of Christ, Tech Faculty Women's Club, 50 year member of the Home Demonstration Club and long-time volunteer at Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Cancer Center. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Elmo S. Dooley; three sons, Joseph B. Dooley, Walter S. Dooley, Bryan N. Dooley and their families; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Jo Haley and her family; and numerous cousins. Her body will be cremated and intered at Crestlawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Collegeside Church of Christ Ladies Class or Cookeville Regional Medical Cancer Center.
