Betty Howell

Graveside funeral services and interment for Mrs. Betty Ann Howell, age 87, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday May 26 at the Cookeville City Cemetery with Mike Stubblefield officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery. Mrs. Howell passed away Wednesday evening May 23, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1930 in Cookeville, TN to the late Arnold and Lola Stewart Flatt. She and her late husband, Richard, were longtime members of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Betty was always supportive of her husband's military career and involvement in masonic work. She was also a member of the Cookeville Chapter 152 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Tommy Haile; son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. Jr.and Carolyn Howell, all of Cookeville; and grandson, Ricky (Taylor) Howell III of Strawberry Plains, TN; and sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Floyd Norrod of Rickman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Donald (Dick) Howell Sr; and two brothers, Harlen and Bill Flatt. The family would like to convey their gratitude to special caregivers, Alene Edgington and Tiffany Hyde; Dr. Ernest Buchanan, Brittany and staff; and Bethesda HealthCare.
