Betty Bilbrey

Memorial services for Mrs. Betty Jean Bilbrey, age 81 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Wiles will officiate. Her family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home . Mrs. Bilbrey died Monday morning, May 30, 2022 at her residence. She was born May 26, 1941 in Monterey, TN to the late Clifford F. Lewis and Lonia Scarborough Lewis. She grew up living in Monterey and Algood. Mrs. Betty worked as a lead lady for Oster and began her career as a cosmetologist in 1974 until retirement in 2007. Kind and sweet with a big heart, Betty also had a wonderful sense of humor and was the life of the party. She loved music, Dolly and Elvis were among her favorites, and enjoyed dancing. Mrs. Betty was also a member of University Heights Baptist Church since its founding in 1994. Most notably, she loved Jesus and was a trusted prayer warrior, praying family and friends thru difficult situations. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Wheeler, Lucille Sparks and Dean Riddle along with infant sisters, Mildred and Nelly Lewis; brothers, Harold Lewis, Mark Lewis, Ralph Lewis and Edward Lewis; and by granddaughter, Leigh Anne Eldridge. She is survived by her adoring family, her husband of 60 years, Ron Bilbrey; daughter, Denise (Rodney) Faulkner; sons, Jimmy (Lisa) Bilbrey and Philip (Michelle) Bilbrey; sisters, Willene (Conrad) Kennedy and Notie Moser; grandchildren, Jonathan (Nikki) Bilbrey, Jenny (Jason) Grider, Aaron Bilbrey, Adam (Samantha) Bilbrey, Joshua (Ashley) Masters, Ross (Rebecca) Faulkner and Tessa Faulkner; and by 11 great grandchildren.
