Betty Ashburn

Memorial services for Mrs. Betty Jo Myers McDonald Ashburn, age 84, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor David Price officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Overton County, TN. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m until service time at the funeral home. Betty passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1932 in the Windle Community of Overton County, TN to the late Luther Jackson and Sallie Edith Smith Myers. Betty was member of First Christian Church in Livingston. She was an avid reader and a creative designer: Many of her friends and family enjoy her handiwork. She worked for the State of Tennessee with speech and hearing in the school system and retired from Putnam County Health Department. Also early in her marriage, she and her late husband Richard Ashburn, owned and operated Ashburn Furniture and Appliance. In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by four brothers, Luther Kirby Myers, Earl Patrick Myers, and Tracy Alex Myers, and Arthur Benton Myers; and two sisters, Callie Dimple Melton, and Edna Smith She is survived by a daughter, Sally Askew of Cookeville; two sisters, Mary Barker of Sparta, and Marjorie Deck of Maryville, TN; and nieces and nephews, Shelby Reid, Patsy and Bob Richardson, Jack and Debbie Myers, John and Cheryl Myers, Suzanne and Roy Ferguson, Steve and Pam Deck, Wayne and Melinda Netherton, Stephanie and Joe Kolb, Brett Myers, Heather and Phil Combest, and Beth Shell.
