Bethel Crouch

d. May 10, 2015

Funeral services for Mr. Bethel Glen Crouch, 87 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday May 16th at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church in Byrdstown. Pastor John Stone will officiate. Interment with Military Honors rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Beaty Cemetery. Mr. Crouch's family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Crouch died Sunday May 10, 2015 in Signature HealthCARE of Putnam Co. He was born July 24, 1927 in Pickett Co. to the late William Lee and Ollie Story Crouch. He married Virginia Alice (Coe) Crouch on April 23, 1948 in Rossville, GA. Born, educated and raised in Pickett Co. where he attended First Christian Church, Bethel enlisted in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. After serving his country in Japan, he began a career in property and building management, most as an employee of John W. Galbreath Company managing high rise office space. Bethel's career led him to live in Nashville, over 30 years in Ohio, and later in Connecticut where he worked in New York City. Following retirement, he and wife Virginia moved back to Tennessee where they have resided for the past 26 years. He enjoyed working maintenance for Buckner Properties during some of those retirement years. Bethel, truly one of the greatest of the greatest generation, is fondly remembered as being the caretaker for his friends and family, always the first on the scene when help was needed. Giver of advice, friend to many, gentle when needed and very, very strong in all situations, he was a great husband and father and a hard worker who taught right from wrong. He enjoyed fishing, boating, yard work, traveling, birding and spending time with those he loved. He was a member of First Christian Church in Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Osburn (Edna) Crouch, Donald (Lucy) Crouch, Ord (Reba) Crouch and by sisters, Nova (Harm) Green, Eva (Arthur) Paris, Wonna (Keene) Gunter, Mary (Howard) Guthrie, Jessie (Paul) Story, and Joyce (Dall) Koger. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia; son, Scott Crouch of Mason, OH; daughters, Sherry (the late Lee) Weaver of Goshen, IN; Becky (Tom) Moore of Cookeville and Melissa (Steve) Hildebrand of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Michael and Elisha Weaver, Veronica, Nathaniel and Zachary Serwan, Joseph, Katie and Christy Crouch and Claire and Grace Hildebrand, eight great grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Team Red White and Blue, 1110 West Platt Rd., Tampa, FL 33606.
