Funeral services for Edith Bernice Reed, age 90, of Cookeville will be held Monday, June 20th at 11am at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial services will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 19th from 5pm-8pm and Monday, June 20th from 9am-11am at the funeral home. Mrs. Reed passed away on June 17th, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 30, 1931 to the late Oliver Franklin and Mollie Bennett-Franklin. She was wed to her late husband, Virgle "Buddy" Reed, for 64 years. Mrs. Reed worked for Acme Boot Company and McCord Winn up until her retirement. She enjoyed attending Fairview First Freewill Baptist Church and fellowshipping with her church family. She was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed sewing and quilting. Other favorite pastimes included tending her flowers and listening to gospel music. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & sister. In addition to her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Brad, Eathern, and Howard; & one sister: Ila. Mrs. Reed is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Kenny Ray of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Reva Reed of Crossville; grandson, Matthew Hayes Hunter of Murfreesboro; and granddaughter and husband, Abby Jo and John Griffith of Crossville. Special caregiver, Donna Parham. Family will serve as pallbearers. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
