Funeral Services for Benny Richard Reeves, age 61, of Cookeville, will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Dodson Branch Cemetery. Benny passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2015 at Alive Hospice St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness. Mr. Reeves was born March 16, 1953 in Dayton OH to Veachel Haney Pond and the late James Thomas Reeves. He attended the Post Oak Freewill Baptist Church. Benny loved fishing and spending time with his family. Benny is survived by his mother and step-father, Veachel and Bud (Horace) Pond of Cookeville, four children; Benny (Geneva) Reeves of Grosse Ile MI, Daniel Reeves, Brian Reeves and April Reeves, all of Taylor MI. He is also survived by six brothers and sisters; Mira (Don) Spyres of Howell MI, Pamela Riddle of Allen Park MI, James Randall (Alice) Reeves of Mont Clair CA, Donna McCabe of Webberville MI, Fred (Angie) Reeves of Taylor MI, and Jeff Reeves of Taylor MI. Benny was grandfather to seven grandchildren; Jonathan, Benny, Joshua, Jacob, James, Aaliegh, and Jacob Reeves, as well as one great-grandchild, Jaxon Reeves. Mr. Reeves also leaves behind eighteen nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends. In addition to his father, Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by one sister; Deborah Guthrie, and two nephews; David Wilson and Daniel Guthrie. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bro. Ken Haney and Bro. Dow Allen will be conducting the services.
