A memorial service for Mrs. Becky Love Gunnels, age 71 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 5:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home Pastors Ted Kocher and Donnie Davidson will officiate.

Her family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gunnels died Tuesday September 12, 2023 at her residence.

She was born August 28, 1952 in Cookeville, TN to the late Tommy and Mildred Morris Love. She was a 1970 graduate of Putnam County Senior High and attended nursing school through St. Mary's in Knoxville.

She worked as a nurse in Cookeville at various practices, including for Dr. Boyd and Dr. Franklin. She was active in various community organizations including Cookeville Junior Womens's Club, Clean Commission, as a substitute teacher and as a reserve officer with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. She and her late husband Peyton were active members at Cookeville Life Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Peyton Louis Gunnels.

Becky is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Alicia and Daniel Eldridge of Cookeville and Stephanie and Al Picken of Columbus, GA, son Peyton Louis "Bo" Gunnels, Jr. ( fiancé ) Ashley Camper of Cookeville, grandchildren: Macey, Shawn and Gabe Allen, AJ and Lauren Picken, and Peyton Gunnels, III; great granddaughter, Ava Love Allen, sisters, Sherry Love Hilton and Suzanne Buck, brothers and sister-in-law Tommy and Rose Love and Bill and Roberta Love; and many nieces and nephews.
