Bea Hargis

Lulua Burnease (Bea) Hargis, age 96, passed away at Fairview Assisted Living in Grand Ledge, Michigan on June 2,2024. Before moving to Michigan Bea lived in Crossville, Tennessee, until the passing of her second husband, Earl Hargis.

After her mother’s death, Bea and her first husband, Austin, raised her younger siblings. She worked at Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, Michigan until her retirement after 30 years. Bea enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with her family.

Special memories of her warmth, love, and kindness will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Throughout Bea’s life the joy of the Lord was her strength. Bea attended First Presbyterian Church on Quarry Road while living in Crossville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Austin Hall, after 50 years of marriage, and husband, Earl Hargis. She was also predeceased by her brothers Jim (Betty), Tom (Ellen), and Bob (Martha) Copeland; her sisters Margaret (Harry) Long, Betty (Cecil) Ogletree, and Joyce (Clark) Shaffer.

Bea is survived by her brother RV (Janie) Copeland, her sister Marva Chambers, her sister-in-law Ellen Copeland, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday June 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Mayland Cemetery (135 Mayland Ballfield Drive, Crossville, TN 38571). Tom Greenwood will officiate.

Her family will receive friends Saturday June 8th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Horner Funeral Home (203 South Holly St., Monterey, TN 38574).
