She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Guidance, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Psychology, all from the University of Tennessee. Her passion for learning and her commitment to helping others shaped her career and the lives of countless students.

For many years, Barbara served as a beloved High School English Teacher, where she inspired her students to appreciate literature and express themselves eloquently. Her influence extended beyond the classroom as she became the first female golf coach for a boys' golf team in Knoxville, breaking gender barriers and encouraging young athletes to pursue their passions regardless of societal expectations.

Barbara's leadership qualities shone brightly in her involvement with professional associations. She was a charter member and former President of the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists, where she advocated for the importance of mental health in educational settings. Additionally, she played a significant role in the development of Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville as a charter member and director of marketing, blending her love for golf with her business acumen.

In the realm of real estate, Barbara's name was synonymous with integrity and excellence. She worked as a Realtor with Cate Realty in Knoxville and later with Watson Realty in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Her clients respected her for her knowledge, honesty, and the interesting stories she shared from her diverse experiences.

Barbara's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Fred Parsons, and her adored grandchildren, Macie Brown and Ryan Parsons, who will forever cherish the memories and wisdom she imparted. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Y.L. Gregg and Rosalee Bridges Gregg, who instilled in her the values of hard work and kindness that she embodied throughout her life.
