Barbara Hatcher

Barbara H. Hatcher, 83, of Wilmington, NC died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born in Big Springs, TN, on July 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Homer G. and Lena Brient Hunt. Also remembered is her husband, Charles Henry Hatcher; two sisters, Geraldine Petty and Eileen Owsley; and a brother, Lester Hunt, all of who preceded her in death. Mrs. Hatcher was a secretary at Putnam County Senior High in Cookeville where she retired in 1993. A devoted Christian who loved her Lord, Barbara was a former member of Stevens Street Baptist Church in Cookeville, TN and a current member of Northside Baptist Church in Wilmington. She enjoyed trips with her church group as well as gardening and reading. She will be lovingly remembered as a very special lady by her family and friends. Surviving is her son, Stephen Lester Hatcher of Cookeville; a daughter, Sandra Hatcher Roberts (Richard) of Wilmington, NC; three grandchildren, Holly Anne Hatcher, Sarah Marie Roberts and Matthew Charles Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 29, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro.David Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special note of appreciation to the entire staff at Coastal Thoracic Surgical Associates for their love and care for Mrs. Hatcher.
