A graveside service and interment for Mrs. Asylee Eugene Hulme, age 92 of Cookeville and formerly of Jackson, TN, were held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. Rev. Don Davidson officiated. Mrs. Hulme died Thursday March 25, 2021 at Morningside of Cookeville. She was born October 28, 1928 in Madison County, TN to the late William Chester Baker and Eunice Goodrich Baker. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky where she met her late husband, U.S. Army Colonel and Methodist church minister, John Hulme. Asylee was a devoted and supportive minister's and military chaplain's wife. She served alongside side her husband in many churces as they lived in many states and countries. She was a gracious host who entertained many dignitaries and prime ministers with her kindness and culinary skills. She was a pianist who enhanced her husband's services in many of their churches. She was hospitable to all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John W. Hulme; son, John W. Hulme, II; sister, Pauline Wilson; and brother, Samuel Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Hull of Mineral Hills, TX; grandchildren, Jeremy Hull, Adam Hull, Christopher Hull, John Hulme III and Thomas Hulme; five great grandchildren; and by niece, Tena Davidson and husband Don of Cookeville. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Jackson (TN) First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Church St, Jackson, TN 38301.
