Anthony Touchet, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023, in Cookeville, TN. Born on July 30, 1949, in Crowley, LA, he was 73 years old.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Dianne Touchet, whom he married on August 1, 1974. Together, they raised a beautiful family, which includes three daughters, Anna Touchet of New Orleans, Laura Elizabeth Manier (Larry Manier) of Cookeville, and Deonna Renee Duhon (John Havener) of Murfreesboro; and son, DeWayne Brothers of Florida. Anthony was a proud grandfather to Michael Allen Touchet, Sean Touchet, William Touchet, Destiny Paige Manier, Kourtney Grace Manier, Katelin Rae Duhon, Mya Grace Duhon, Cori Ann Havener, Josh Brothers, Kaleb Brothers, and Aaron Brothers; and to his seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Leo Touchet (Trenia) and Peter Glen Touchet (Juliet). He had a special place in his heart for Nicolas “Nicky” Spatty and Elizabeth "Sissy" Gimnich, who were like his own children. Anthony's love for his family extended to his four-legged friends, Luna and Miley, who brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Joseph Touchet and Grace Kibedeaux Touchet; sister, Linda Crader; brother, Roy Touchette; and beloved dog, Roscoe.
Anthony was a proud United States Marine, serving two tours in Vietnam. His dedication to his country and his fellow Marines was unwavering. After his military service, Anthony transitioned to working in the oil fields of Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. Known for being a hard worker and tough as nails, Anthony was respected by his colleagues and friends.
In his later years, Anthony discovered a love for woodworking and gardening. His hands were rarely idle, and he took great pride in the beautiful creations he crafted and the flourishing gardens he tended.
Anthony will be remembered as a loving and generous man who always put his family first. He was a pillar of strength and support for those who knew him. His unwavering love for his family and his country will be greatly missed.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Thursday June 15 at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Chaplain Jim McAfee will officiate.
