COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Anthony Joseph LiVolsi, cherished family man and educator, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 2, 2025, ending his battle with ALS. Anthony, born in New York City on January 7, 1957, was just shy of his 68 birthday. He grew up on Long Island and spent his entire teaching career in Levittown having returned to Long Island after obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree at the State University of NY in Oswego County and his Master’s at Hofstra University. “Tony” as he was known to his colleagues, loved teaching and working with his students. In his more than 30 years in Levittown, Tony taught at Jonas Salk Middle School, MacArthur High School, was Director of the GC Tech School and the advisor to the Robotics Team. He had an untiring dedication to his students and he inspired countless numbers of them to aspire to higher education and meaningful careers. Additionally, he was the Driver’s Education coordinator and was always surprised when he met former students who thanked him for his service. In one instance, he had taught three generations of one family.
Throughout his teaching career, he inspired many, always guiding young minds with curiosity, creativity and topping it all off with a dad joke or two. From designing, building and racing wooden cars, growing hydroponic gardens in his classroom and leading his Robotics team to build an award winning robot that resembled their beloved school mascot, he was a jack of all trades in and out the classroom and shared his knowledge with everyone. His vast knowledge and talents stretched from automotive technology to fixing just about anything around the house (even if it took each project a year to finish) to bread baking and watch repairs like his father.
One of his greatest passions was motorcycles. He loved to ride and took every chance he could, even in the dead of winter, to take his bike out for a ride. He donned full leather from head to toe and always with a pair of the most pristine cowboy boots. He was a lifetime HOG (Harley Owner Group) member and embodied the Harley spirit of the “timeless pursuit of adventure and Freedom for the soul”. Whether it was through his many motorcycle road trips from state to state with his wife and local Harley chapter or rebuilding his 1938 Harley Davidson motorcycle from the ground up. He always yearned for adventure and to learn something new.
One of his biggest adventures was fatherhood. His children, Bianca and John definitely gave him a run for his money, but with an arsenal of dad jokes and helping to change tires and fix just about anything for them, he made it out barely unscathed.
Tony is survived by his wife of 18 years Nancy LiVolsi, his children, Bianca Georgedakis, John Triantallou, and granddaughters Meliana and Olivia Georgedakis. Additionally he is survived by his sister Carolann LiVolsi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse LiVolsi and Mary Burguilos LiVolsi.
