Funeral services for Anna Ruth Dillon Sevier, 93 of Baton Rouge, LA will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1 PM in the Algood Family Event Center. Bro. Doyle Crawford will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 am until service time at Algood Family Event Center. Anna Ruth passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at The Woodleigh of Baton Rouge. She was born on October 30, 1928, in Rickman, Tennessee, to the late Stanton Dillon & Ethel Esther Poston Dillon. She was a graduate of Algood High School and a proud member of the Algood community. She was a member of the Algood Church of Christ for most of her life, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. For many years, she was a familiar face at Algood City Hall where she served as City Recorder. From there, she went on to work as a bookkeeper for the Putnam County Highway Department for almost 20 years until her retirement. Outside of work and church, she spent most of her married life following the love of her life, Johnny Sewell Sevier, to basketball, football and especially baseball games when he was coaching. She loved sports! She is survived by her only daughter, Teena, and her “favorite son-in-law,” Steve, who live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also leaves her two grandsons whom she loved more than life, Tyler Sibley (Nicki), of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and Carter Sibley (Lindy), of Apex, North Carolina. She spent countless hours following their sporting events, spoiling them and just being an amazing “mama” to her grandsons as well as all their friends. She was blessed to live long enough to see the arrival of her four great grandchildren: Knox, Andie, Colt and Reagan. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Virginia Dillon, with whom she enjoyed traveling and visiting for as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents and husband, Johnny, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Carson Lee Dillon, Jewell “Julie” Dillon King, Jonnie Dillon Capps and Norman Eugene Dillon - as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jackie and Doris Sevier. Ms. Anna was a sweet, caring, God-fearing, Christian woman who touched many lives with her kindness. She would constantly tell the doctors and nurses at the hospital that she loved them, and the nurses fought to be able to take care of her. The staff at The Woodleigh Baton Rouge adored her and treated her like family, as she never complained and always greeted them with a smile and a thank you even on her worst days. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Algood Church of Christ, 395 West Main Street, Algood, TN 38506. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931)526-6111. Share memories and condolences at hhhfunerals.com
