Anna Lee Breeding Karch was born March 18, 1926 Overton County, TN to the late Myrtle Alma Boatman and William Winton Breeding. She died Wednesday March 14, 2018 in the Bailey Manor in Cookeville. Funeral services will be Saturday morning March 17 at 11 a.m. at Cookeville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Martin Thielen and Rev. Rob Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery in Monterey. Anna's family will receive friends Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Karch graduated from Rickman high school where she played basketball and was involved in FHA. After graduation she went to Detroit and worked making airplanes for the war effort. She was considered a Rosie Riveter. She met her husband, Al Karch, and after several years of corresponding while he was in the Army and stationed in Europe, he returned home and they were married on October 30, 1946. They lived in New Jersey near his parents for a short time. After coming to Tennessee for a visit, they never returned to New Jersey and Tennessee became home. They lived in Monterey where he worked as a TV/radio repairman. After being a homemaker for a few years, Mrs. Karch worked at Ely & Walker until the death of their son in 1972. They worked together a number of years in the real estate business before retiring. After retirement, they traveled across the United States. She worked as a member of the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an active member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She belonged to the Cookeville Civitan Club and the Embroidery Guild for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Adalbert "Al" Karch in 2006 and their son George William Karch in 1972. Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa (Johnny) Looper of Monterey, Sue (Dennis) McCloud of Hixson, TN and Alfreda (Merrill) Ford of Cookeville; five grandchildren, John (LeAnn) Looper of Monterey, David (Olivia) Looper of Smyrna, Christopher (Ashley) Looper of Cookeville, Katie (Darren) Miller of Ringgold, GA and Stephen (Leslie) McCloud of Athens, AL; ten great grandchildren; and sister Gertha (Bill) Medley of Algood. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, grandson-in-laws and Rob Medley. Mrs. Karch's family extends Thanks to the staff at Bailey Manor who cared for her the final months of her life.
