Anna "Louise" Goodwin, 96, a beloved member of the Cookeville community, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at NHC of Cookeville. Born on June 11, 1928, in Putnam County, Tennessee, Louise was the daughter of Wesley and Maude Swift Greenwood.
A life-long member of the Sycamore Church of Christ, Louise was blessed to be the oldest living member at the time of her passing. Her faith and the community she fostered there were important parts of her life, guiding her through challenges and nurturing her spirit. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit, leaving a legacy of love and faith.
Louise’s dedicated career spanned many years, as she worked as a seamstress at the Cookeville Shirt Factory for 32 years and later at Russell Stover's for 12 years. Her work ethic and commitment were commendable, and she touched the lives of many co-workers over the years.
Louise leaves behind her grandson, Eddie Farris (Tammie Carr) of Cookeville, and three great-grandchildren: Morgan Farris of Gruetli-Laager, TN, Brooke (Justin) Roberts of Phoenix, AZ, and Carter Sells of Smyrna, TN.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Goodwin; daughter, Frances Helen Johnson; granddaughter, Pennie Sells; sisters, Lena Taylor, Betty Hargis and Stella Mae Greenwood, and brothers, Charles Dewey Greenwood, John Harvey Greenwood and Cortez Greenwood.
Funeral Services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Roy Palk officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 AM until service time. Pallbearers will be staff from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, and interment will follow in the Shipley Cemetery.
