Anna Ray Chaffin, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, TN. Born on April 24, 1935, in Clay County, TN, Anna's life was a tapestry of strong family bonds, enduring friendships, and a steadfast commitment to her community.
Anna, known affectionately to her friends and family as a loving and kind soul, is survived by a family who cherished her deeply. Her son, Earl Wayne Chaffin, and his wife Treva of Dalton, GA; her daughters, Kathy Hoffman and her husband Ken, and Jeanette Crouch and her husband Gregory, all of Morristown, TN; and her sister, Charlene Walker and her husband Roy of Blairsville, GA, will hold her memory in their hearts forever. Anna's legacy also lives on through her adoring grandchildren, Bradley Crouch and Brandon Hoffman, and her great-grandchildren, Drew and Kylee Crouch.
Anna was greeted in heaven by her beloved husband, Earl Chaffin, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished moments. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Faye Chaffin, her parents, Herman Hollows and Willie Cleo Richardson Hollows, her brothers, Kenneth and Bill Hollows, and her sister, Sharon Farless.
Throughout her career, Anna was a dedicated employee at Aqua Tech in Cookeville, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and support of her coworkers. Her strong character was evident in her work ethic and the respect she earned from those around her.
Anna's spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. While living in Cookeville, she was an active member of Whitson Chapel Church of Christ. After moving to Morristown, she continued her devotion to God as a member of the Morristown Church of Christ. Her faith was unwavering, and she was a source of strength and inspiration to her family and friends.
Never one to complain, Anna faced life's challenges with grace and fortitude. Her strong character was a testament to her ability to handle life's ups and downs with poise and dignity. Those who knew Anna would describe her as loving, kind, and friendly-a friend to all who had the pleasure of crossing her path.
Funeral services honoring Anna will be at 11 a.m. Saturday December 9 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Blaine Kelly will officiate. Interment will follow at Young Cemetery in Jackson County. Her family will welcome friends Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
