MAYLAND COMMUNITY Alvin Lynn Miller, 70, of 184 Shady Loop, Crossville, TN 38571 passed away suddenly Monday, August 31,2015 at the job site, of natural causes. He was born Dec. 30, 1944 in Plain City, Ohio to the late LeeRoy and Elizabeth (Troyer) Miller. He married Fannie Miller on Feb. 24, 1968. Survivors include his wife Fannie Miller; 5 sons and 2 daughters; Caroline Grace, Conrad Alan, Lynn Alvin, Leroy Arlan, Leanna Beth, Edwin Anthony Miller all of Crossville, TN and Walter Alfred Miller of Clifton TN; four grandchildren, Gracie, Makenzie, and Casey Miller and Alexia Sherrill; three brothers, Eli (Wilma) Miller, Ralph (Cathy) Miller, all of Plain City Ohio, and John (Mary Ellen) Miller of Sturgis Michigan; six sisters, Emma Kauffman, Susie Miller, Fanny (Abe) Troyer, Mary Gingerich, Katie (Alvin) Yoder all of Plain City Ohio, and Arie (Daniel) Hochstetler of Goshen, IN; and a sister-in-law Anna Miller of Middlebury, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Wyman Miller and two brothers-in-law Raymond Kauffman and Joe Gingerich. The fervency and zeal of his life changing conversion experience at age 19 never left him until he went to be united with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member at Mount Moriah Mennonite Church. He grew up on a farm with his widowed mother, and enjoyed his many nieces and nephews. He worked in Hillcrest Nursing Home for his 1-W service, and then became Assistant Administrator at Hillcrest for 2 years. He taught 4th through 10th grade at Sharon Bethel School in Kalona, Iowa for 2 years. After he moved the family to Crossville, TN in January 1977, he became a general building contractor for many years. For the past 15 years, he was the owner and operator of Comfort Zone Insulation. He enjoyed all of God's creation, especially people and all kinds of flowers. He traveled to various parts of the globe to enjoy both. Antiques were a delight to him particularly John Deere tractors. A hobby was taking pictures of unusual mailboxes. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Mennonite Church, 830 Linder Loop, Crossville, TN with interment to follow in the Mt. Moriah Mennonite Church Cemetery. John Mast will officiate. His family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Bibles for impoverished countries to Mont Zion Literature (931-863-8183) 830 Linder Loop, Crossville, TN 38571.
