Alton Eugene Lander

Mr. Alton Eugene Lander Jr. age 61, of Cookeville passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his residence. Life celebration will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Hidden Springs Nursery on Step Rock Road in the Dodson Branch Community from 2:00p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Alton was born December 4, 1952 in Washington DC. to the late Alton Eugene Thomas Sr. and Alma Thomas. Mr. Lander was the owner of Lander Electric and spent many years working in Cookeville. Alton enjoyed music and played several stringed instruments as well as playing the keyboard. He had a green thumb when it came to gardening, was an old movie enthusiast and enjoyed listening to old radio shows. Mr. Lander had a reputation for his fair and honest work as an electrician. Mr. Lander’s is survived by four sons; Joshua Alton (Stephanie) Lander of Cookeville, Aaron Thomas Lander of Ashville NC, Kalihib Jeremiah Lander and Levi Isaiah Lander both of Cookeville; one daughter, Rachel Sapeda of Brunswick GA, two grandchildren; Kaytlin Rose and Kyra Ann Lander, one brother; Morris Clements of Ft. Myers FL. two sisters; Marjorie C. (Alexander) Park of Crescent GA. and Julie A. (Gerald) Chancy of Key Largo FL. as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In addition to his parents Mr. Lander was preceded in death by two brothers, John H. Landers and Herbert M. Lander. Cremation has been chosen per Mr. Lander wishes. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dyer Funeral Home. Hector Black will officiate the service.
