COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Kathryn Sandberg, age 81, passed on Monday, March 31, 2025 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

If you are reading this, then I have left this Earth to go live with my Heavenly Father. Please do not mourn my passing. I have lived a long, blessed life.

I was blessed with my wonderful husband, Murray, and four wonderful children: Cheryl, Kevin, Tim, and Mike, and a granddaughter, Tara, who is more like a daughter. Three other grandchildren: Kyle, Alyssa, and Elise “Grey”, three step grandchildren: Amélie , Cassandra, and Danielle. Also, three great-grandchildren: Max, Emma, and Olli and four brothers: Odell (Janice), Arnold, William(Pam), and Ralph Gene and a sister, Phyllis, who preceded me in death. I am also proud of all of you and hope I have left some good memories and good impressions to follow.

As you all know, my life did not start out the best. I left home at fourteen because of the environment and to seek a better life. I did not know where it would take me. I was scared, but God saw me through. My mother was a good mother and gave her all to keep us together as long as possible. She sacrificed so much for us. I went through some very rough times this first few years. Lack of confidence, not feeling good enough, and just generally feeling lost. But again, God saw me through. There were things that happened to me that only Murray knows (but probably has forgotten), and those things shaped my life forever when I gave my life to Jesus and was baptized in Las Vegas several years ago. I let all the bad out of my soul and found a peace I had never known.

I have seen and done so much in my life that is all good. Watching the dolphins play in the Pacific Ocean, snorkeling in Hawaii (I didn't swim), saw the beautiful coral reefs and all the colorful fish. I have watched the sunrise over the mountains in Las Vegas from a hot air balloon, and the biggest thrill was sky diving (at 66 years old) over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. So, I have lived a good, long life. Do I have regrets? Yes, a few. I had anger issues for many years, but not at any of you all. I let that all go, and I am at peace with myself and with God.

I want to thank all of those who helped me through some bad times and those who helped through so many moves when we moved back to here from Las Vegas. Especially Odell and William. You guys were our angels and still are! Now, go have a party and laugh about all the dumb things I did in life! This is not goodbye, it’s just till we meet again in heaven.
