Alfred Davis Massa

Funeral services for Alfred Amon (A.D.) Davis Massa, 81, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home. Mr. Massa died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 22, 1927, to the late Chester Levander and Amanda Bussell Massa. Mr. Massa was a member of Holladay Church of Christ. He served as an elder at the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Indianapolis IN for many years. He was employed for 30 yrs. by the International Harvester Corporation as in Inspector. Mr. Massa served in the Army at the close of World War II. His family includes his wife: Marquita Massa, of the home, Four children: Gary Massa of Tucson AZ, Wayne and wife Becky Massa of Indianapolis IN, June and husband Glen Dailey of Indianapolis IN, Karen and husband Mike Byars of Marietta GA. Two step-children: Teresa Kirby and Darrell Kirby both of Cookeville, Three sisters: Juanita Garner of Indianapolis IN, Modenia Harris of Cookeville, and Willodene Jackson of Greenwood IN. One brother: Willie C. Massa of Richmond VA. Twenty two grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Lee Sherrill: one baby brother: and one step son: Jerry Kirby. Memorial donations may be made to the Mended Hearts program at Cookeville Regional Medical Center or Happy Haven Children’s Home, 2311 Wakefield Dr. Cookeville TN 38501. Bro. Johnny Fox and Bro. Denton Ramsey will officiate at the services.
