Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Adell Young, age 98 of Cookeville will be held Monday April 23 at 1 p.m. at Stevens Street Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Parkinson, Rev. Rick Lowhorn, and Rev. Harold Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Shipley Cemetery. Adell's family will receive friends Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Adell died Friday morning April 20, 2018 at Bethesda Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born Saturday April 17, 1920 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late William Lee and Maude Elizabeth Kinnard Thompson. She was a Charter Member of West View Baptist Church and a current member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. She started her nursing career with the former Howard Hospital and retired from Cookeville Regional Medical Center with 30 years of service. Adell was a long-time member of Cookeville Senior Citizens and travelled extensively with them visiting all the Continental United States. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Thompson. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Frank Massa; grandchildren, Doug Massa, and Melinda (John) Poteet; and six great grandchildren, Stephen Poteet, Samuel Poteet, Mason (Carla) Poteet, Leanna Poteet, ‘Robert Massa and Ashley Shea Massa; and four great great grandchildren, Jaidon, Connor, Lily, and Sophia all of Cookeville. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ladies of Faith Sunday School Class at SSBC along with management, staff and employees of Bethesda Health Care Center.
