A. J. Rice

Graveside Funeral Services for A. J. Rice, age 79, of Cookeville will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Allison Cemetery. Mr. Rice died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 8, 1933 in Putnam County TN to the late Herman Rice and Lelia Williams Rice. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and had worked for twenty-six years at Fleetguard here in Cookeville. A.J. is survived by his wife, Jean Rice; three children, Beverly (Ted) Mitchell, Jack (Gail) Rice, and Lonnie (Lisa) Rice, all of Cookeville; a half-brother Lonnie (Judi) Rice of California, and a half-sister, Lillie (Kermit) Vickers, of Baxter. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Kelly (Daniel) Murphy, Chad (Megan) Rice, Tyler Rice, Landon Rice and Leanne Rice; and three great grandchildren; Tanner Murphy, Layna Rice and Gavin Rice. In addition to his parents, A.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Ollie Rice and Arton and Media Williams. Brother David Dalton will officiate the graveside service.
