Velma Leigh Brown, age 85 of Cookeville, passed away Sunday morning May 17, 2020 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. She was born May 14, 1935 in Joelton, TN to the late William Henry Milliken and Olar Dulin Milliken. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Gentry of Cookeville, Pam (Brian) Roche of Rockwood, and Tammie (J.R.) Garrett of Cookeville; son, Randy (Kim) Brown of Cookeville; grandchildren, Rachel Gentry, Angela Jacoby-Merrick, Brad (Kayla) Jacoby, Autumn Brown, Emma Herron, Jarrett Sauceman, Taylor Sauceman, and Chelsea Garrett; great granddaughter, Kylee Jacoby; brother, Alvin Edward "Jim" Milliken; and niece (who is more like a sister) Arell V. Pike Boner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harvey Brown; grandson, John Riggs Gentry II; sister, Emma Pike Barrett; and brothers, William Edgar Milliken, Jesse James "Blue" Milliken, and Andrew Douglas "Shine" Milliken. Friends are invited to come by the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Friday May 22 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m with Melinda Bilbrey officiating.
