Mrs. Vallie Mae Brady-Guinn, age 90, of Cookeville, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Bethesda Health Care Center. Mrs. Guinn's family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, from 5 -7 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Guinn was born August 10, 1923 in Putnam County, TN to the late John and Fannie Carr Featherston. She was raised on her family's farm in the Buffalo Valley community near Cookeville. Prior to retirement, she was a retail associate at Harvey's and Peebles department store, and at the former McMurry-Roberson on the square in Cookeville. She was also employed at the former West Side Drugs pharmacy. Mrs. Guinn was a lifelong member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Atha Guinn; her first husband, David Manson Brady; two brothers, John and Clyde Featherston; and sister, Ercell Madewell. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mary Kathryn Brady of Cookeville, Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Robert and Gail Brady of Tomah, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, John Patrick Brady of Glasgow, Scotland, and Fiona (Brian) Hardy of Abingdon, VA, and one step-grandson, David Carter of Alabama. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam Co. Library and the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.
