Funeral services for Mr. Troy Nugene Whiteaker, age 78, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday July 24 at Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Stone Seminary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Monday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Mr. Whiteaker passed away suddenly Friday, July 21, 2017 at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, due to injuries he sustained in a farm accident. He was born July 7, 1939 in Putnam County, TN to the late Burl and Rulie C. Whiteaker. Mr. Whiteaker was a member of Cookeville Freewill Baptist Church. He was a longtime, respected businessman in Cookeville. He was a founding partner of Sportsman's World Marine for over 50 years and was a founding partner of Bowling World for over 42 years. He was a fan and supporter of local sports teams especially TTU Athletics. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shelby Jean Judd Whiteaker, who he married February 22, 1957 in Ringgold, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Mark and Laura Prichard Whiteaker of Hermitage, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Denise and Judge William T. Ailor of Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Justin Mark Whiteaker of Nashville, TN and Jennifer Ellen Perron of Jacksonville, FL: and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Whiteaker. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
