Virginia Sue Brown Stewart, 83, of Knoxville, formerly of Monterey, died Sunday March 14, 2021 at Westmoreland Health & Rehab in Knoxville. She was born Saturday July 3, 1937 in Monterey to the late James Sewell "J.S." and Virginia Maurine Robbins Brown. After graduating from Monterey High School, she attended Belmont College and Tennessee Tech. She worked at Tennessee Tech as a Department Secretary and retired after 30 years as a legal secretary in Knoxville. Ms. Stewart was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James Sewell Brown, Jr. and Preston "Bud" Brown. Ms. Stewart is survived by daughter, Loni Sue "Cissy" Stewart Walker and husband, Tom of Knoxville, sons, Stephen Verble Stewart and wife Frances of Seabeck, Washington, and Marc Lane Stewart of Denver, Colorado; grandson, Harrison Autry Stewart and granddaughters, Shilo Danielle Stewart Waldbillig, Kelsey Maureen Stewart and Paige Mackenzie Quick; great-grandchildren, Adam and Alana Cox; sister, Patricia Ann Brown Bowman of Monterey; sisters-in-law, Midge Brown of Oak Ridge, and Sheila Brown of Edmonds, OK; best friend, Dorothy Cumby Jolicoeur of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday April 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey. Rev. Kent Williams officiated.
