Funeral services for Bettie Sue McBroom Matheney Clack, age 82 of Cookeville, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday August 16 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Bob Pharris will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4- 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measures will be in place. Mrs. Clack passed away Wednesday morning August 12, 2020 at home. She was born March 7, 1938 in Cookeville to the late William Franklin and Bessie Lee Flatt McBroom. Sue graduated from Central High School in 1956. She kept in touch with many of her classmates and was eager to organized reunions and socials. Sue formerly worked at Sears and later as an administrative assistant with the City of Cookeville prior to retirement in 1995. Sue was a member of the Red Hat Society, Order of the Eastern Star Cookeville Chapter No. 152, and an avid bowler. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She loved the children at church and regularly gave them suckers, presents and hugs. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Tim) Melton; son, Kenneth (Beth) Matheney; daughter-in-law, Judy Matheney of Hixon, TN; grandchildren, Christopher (Jaime) Lynn, Joe (Tracie) Cowan, Josh (Felicia) Matheney, David (Taylor) Matheney, William (Caitlyn) Matheney, Zac (Mysteria) Matheney, Tripp Billingsley, Amy Billingsley; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her husband, Talmadge Earl Clack; and son, Bill Matheney. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
