A Christian Funeral Mass for Mr. Stephen (Steve) Joseph Jarossy, Jr., 71, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Chad Puthoff officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the church. Cremation will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 "� 8 pm and again Saturday from 10 am until service time. All visitation times will be at the church. Mr. Jarossy died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Nashville VA Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1941 in Queens Borough of New York, NY to the late Stephen Joseph, Sr. and Helen Hardy Jarossy. Mr. Jarossy was an U. S. Navy veteran and member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was retired from construction contracting after 41 years of service. He built residential homes in both Monroe, NY and Martin County, FL. He also was a former volunteer firefighter and ambulance attendant in Monroe, NY. After retirement he and his wife relocated in Cookeville in 2007. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and a 4th Degree Sir Knight with Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Jarossy. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Michelle Heffner Jarossy (whom he married October, 19, 1963 in Bronx, NY); two sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. Jarossy and Linda Ziembka-Jarossy of New York, NY, Joseph Jarossy of Beacon, NY; daughter, Michelle Neild of Palm City, FL; two sisters, Kathleen Platt of Danville, VA and Jackie Doran of Long Island, NY; four grandchildren, Ashley Cavallaro, Megan Neild, Althea Jarossy, and Reid Jarossy. Pallbearers will be Bill Timble, Ed Riley, Jim Scannell, John Murphy, Kevin Lundgren, and George Kreis.
