Funeral services for Shirley Vaughn Crabtree, age 85, of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, September 4th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Melinda Bilbrey will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Ms. Crabtree passed away Friday August 31, 2018 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. She was born December 17, 1932 in the Bloomington Springs Community of Putnam County, TN to the late Robert Frazier and Mallie Rose Billingsley Vaughn. She graduated from Cookeville High School in 1950. She retired as an assistant in the Putnam County Clerk's office. She was an avid bowler and was active in the Cookeville Bowling League for over 60 years. She bowled in several places, including Las Vegas, Reno and Michigan and was inducted in the US National Bowling Hall of Fame. Ms. Crabtree was an excellent seamstress and cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 21 years, Bruce Crabtree; three sisters, Helen Norden, Evelyn Cody and Dorothy Hamrick; and three brothers, Ernest, Richard, and Grant Vaughn. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Schroeder of Cookeville; two sisters, Jo Nelda Stamps of Cookeville, and Linda Barker of Clermont, FL; granddaughter, Casey Lusk Cantwell of Kingston Springs, TN; great-grandchild, Cadiz Cantwell and by a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
