A Memorial Service for Sandra Lee Ret, 72, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 2nd at 11 a.m. at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Whitney Mitchell will officiate. Mrs. Ret's family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. She died Thursday December 25, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Ret was born July 31, 1942 in Three Rivers, Michigan to the late Clare and June Lewis Smith. A graduate of Henry Ford College of Nursing, she also obtained a bachelor degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from St. Andrews University. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Leila Hospital in Battle Creek and later at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. She has been a member of Cookeville First United Methodist Church since moving to Cookeville 10 years ago. She enjoyed knitting with the church group and attending the church discipleship classes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Raymond Eugene Ret. Mrs. Ret is survived by two daughters, Teresa Ret of Cookeville and Lisa and husband Dr. Kent Beebe of Battle Creek; grandson, Nathaneal Tonelli Ret; and by a brother, Gary and wife Sharon Smith of Bowling Green, KY.
