Funeral services for Samuel Neely "S.N."� Barr, Jr. 88 of Baxter will be Thursday, Dec. 8 at 1 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mr. Barr died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 15, 1923 in Putnam County to the late Samuel Neely "S.N."� Sr. and Parzetta Elizabeth Myatt Barr. He was retired owner-operator of S.N. Barr Hardware in Baxter and also served as a sales clerk at Lovell Farm & Seed in Cookeville. He was a member of Baxter Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Lela Belle Nash and two brothers, Kenneth Barr and Gilbert Barr. Survivors include wife of 62 years (Married July 9, 1949) Alma Jean Halfacre Barr of Baxter; two sons & daughters-in-law Harold T. and Sheila Hale of Cookeville; Rick & Scotti Barr of Franklin, Tn; six grandchildren, Beth Hale, Erica Barr, Amanda Barr, Gina Hale, Tina Wallace and Robert Hale, four great-grandchildren, Noel Qualls, Bethany Hale, Caitlin Maynord & Michael Wallace and a great great grandson, Owen Maynord. Bro. John Pippin will officiate. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. and after 11 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Odd Fellows Cemetery Fund by contacting the funeral home.
