Funeral services for Ralph Arnold Maxwell, Sr., 88, of Baxter will be held Thursday, July 7 at 3 p.m. in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Blair officiating. Interment will follow in Maxwell Cemetery North. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Maxwell died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2011 at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born January 5, 1923 in Putnam County to the late Virgil P. and Etta Roberts Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was a member of Baxter First Baptist Church where he served as song leader. He was an US Army veteran of WWII and Purple Heart recipient. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Allison Maxwell of Baxter ( whome he married May 20, 1947), two sons, Ralph Arnold Maxwell, Jr. of Kentucky and Jeff Maxwell of Baxter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Charles Dalton, Lisa and Troy Parks all of Baxter; ten grandchildren, Buddy (Renata) Dalton, Jenny (Josh) Stites, Brent Dalton, Jesse (Kelly) Dalton, Arnie & Jonathan Maxwell, Karissa, Kenzie, Alexis and Autumn Dyer. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
