Patti Soard

Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia "Patti" Soard, age 85 of Cookeville were held Tuesday January 12 at 1 pm in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey officiated. Interment followed in Cookeville City Cemetery. Her family received friends Tuesday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Patti died Sunday morning January 10, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Wednesday January 30, 1935 in Peoria, IL to the late Glenn Virgil and Rose Mildred Brule Gillmar. While she and her family lived in California for several years they were a Chevron dealer with Standard Oil Company. They owned several service stations, convalescent homes, and they were well-known homebuilders. When she and her family moved to Cookeville in the late 1980's, they became real estate developers and they owned and operated Soard Properties for over 40 years. She was of the Catholic Faith and a Founding Member of Beta Sigma Psi, Tennessee Theta Psi Chapter. They also founded Soard Museum which has one of the largest Fire and Flatt Iron Memorabilia Collections in the U.S. Patti loved antiquing and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Charlie" Douglas Soard; grandchild, Patrick Lee; and her sister, Betty Martin. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Christine "Chris" Soard and Deborah (Gervase) O' Neill; grandchildren, Marlene (Josh) Lampert and Charles "Chad" (Kristen) Preston Perry; three great-grandchildren, Jolene Lampert, William Perry, and Weston Perry all of Cookeville; and brother, Henry Gillmar of Decater, IL.
