Funeral services for Oscar Paul Bowman, 91, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m., in the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Bullock officiating. Internment, with military honors, will follow in Phillips Cementery in the Hanging Limb Community of Overton County. Mr. Bowman's family will receive friends Wednesday, 11 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home. Mr. Bowmwn died Sunday evening, Oct. 2, 2016, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Overton County, to the late William Virgil and Mary Lou Bowman. Mr. Bowman was retired from Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Mich., with over 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiaic-Pacific Theater receiving the Victory Metal and American Theater Ribbon. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Willie Mae Dishman Bowman; brothers, Harold and Carl Bowman: two infant sisters; sister-in-law, Alice Lee Dishmen Loftis and Elsie Dishman Bowman Hotsinpiller, and brother-in-law, Roy Dishman. Survivors include brother-in-law, Letcher (Brenda) Dishman of Cookeville; special nephew, Caron Loftis; sister-in-law, Virginia Dishman; special caretaker, Joyce Dillon; and a host of nephews and nieces.
