On Friday, January 28, 2022, Marian “Missy” McCamy Phillips, loving wife and daughter, friend, adoptive mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cousin, passed away at the age of 73 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by a room full of her loved ones. Missy was born on June 3, 1948 in Chattanooga, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Hazel McCamy and her husband, Carl Maxey Phillips. She is survived by her “Cookeville Family”, Kathy (John) Florea and grandchildren, Michelle (Ray) Huddleston, Terry Owens Jr. “TJ” and Adam Peek as well as 6 great grandchildren, Kaylie, Madison and Aubrey Huddleston and Malin, Elliot and Liam Owens. Missy is also survived by her cousins Billie (Susan) Lumpkin, Ann Lumpkin, of Dalton, GA, Mary (David) Julian of Rocky Face, GA, Elizabeth Bennet of Kennesaw, GA, and Martin Henderson, of Dalton, GA Missy was passionate about philanthropy and was one of the most charitable people you would ever come across. She genuinely cared about other people and making a difference in life. She was generous and giving. She was a huge cat lover and took in more than 20 cats over the years; she is survived by her sweet fur babies, Josephine and Harley. Missy was also a big Georgia Tech fan, which made for an interesting marriage to the late Carl Maxey Phillips who was an Alabama fan. A Celebration of Life will be held in late March, where family and friends from TN, GA and NC can come together. The family will reach out to close friends and relatives at a later date in the spring when a Celebration of Life is scheduled. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
