Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Cecil Elder Mullins Davidson of Cookeville will be held Friday, December 7 at 10 a.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with burial in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Dr. Randall Adkisson and Rev. Charles Hutchison will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of the funeral home. Mrs. Davidson died Tuesday morning at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was 95. She was born in Pickett County, Tennessee, to the late John and Sarah Elder, and lived in Pickett County until she was 25 when her home was displaced by Dale Hollow Lake. She moved with her husband, Lynn Mullins, to Cookeville in 1943 and lived on Dry Valley Road. Lynn Mullins was killed in October 1953 in an automobile accident. They had two daughters, Mary Lynne and Brenda. Mrs. Davidson later married Ken Davidson, who died in 2000. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cookeville and a retired employee of Lamb Oil Co. of Cookeville. She was an avid gardener and a life-long Democrat. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Crouch; and two brothers, Dale Elder and Gilbert Elder. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lynne Mullins Bayne of Memphis and Brenda Mullins Dorsey of Shelton, Washington; three grandsons, William C. Bayne II of Austin, Texas; Robert Lynn Bayne of Memphis, and Adam Dorsey of Los Angeles; a granddaughter, Rhea Dorsey of Silver City, New Mexico, and four great-grandsons. She also leaves two step-granddaughters, Paula Fortner of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Vicki Capps of Cookeville; two step-grandsons, Rex Jones of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Ken Davidson of Cookeville; and six step-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Cookeville, 18 S Walnut Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Program, PO Box 1000 Dept.142, Memphis, TN 38148.
