Michael Allen Baxmann, a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, in Cookeville, Tennessee at the age of 61. Born to John and Patricia West Hilbert on September 6, 1962, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Michael's early foundation in family and service would come to define his remarkable life.
Following his high school graduation, Michael dedicated over 30 years to the United States Navy as an FMF, retiring with honors and the respect of his peers. His unwavering commitment to his country was matched only by his devotion to his family. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Debora Boles Baxmann, of Cookeville, his daughters, Cori Wilson (Trevor) and Heather Hilbert, his son, Eric Baxmann, his step-children, Julie Smith and Eric Slaven, his siblings, Tom and Pam Hilbert, Russ and Teresa Hilbert, Jeff and Karen Hilbert, and Pam and Greg Kovalchick, and seven adoring grandchildren.
In every aspect of his life, Michael exemplified integrity, courage, and kindness. His memory will be treasured and his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Michael's family will receive friends on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 5-7pm at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00pm EST at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
