Mary Barker

Mary Belle Myers Netherton Barker, age 96 of Sparta, passed away Saturday morning May 23, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 31, 1923 in the Windle Community of Overton County, TN to the late Luther Jackson Myers and Sallie Edith Smith Myers. Mary was a member of First Christian Church in Cookeville. She was retired from Red Kap. She is survived by a son, Wayne (Melinda) Netherton of Sparta; sister, Marjorie Deck of Maryville, TN; sister-in-law, Thelma Myers of Santa Ana, CA; brother-in-law, Dawson Netherton in Cookeville; grandson, Stuart (Brittney) Murray; great-grandchildren, Liam and Ella Murray; nieces and nephews, Shelby Reid, Patsy and Bob Richardson, Jack and Debbie Myers, John and Cheryl Myers, Suzanne and Roy Ferguson, Steve and Pam Deck, Sally Askew, Stephanie and Joe Kolb, Brett Myers, Heather and Phil Combest, and Beth Shell; and special friends, Jimmy and Karen McCulley, Daniel and Kelsey McCulley, Tyler and Haley McCulley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Netherton and Hayden Barker; four brothers, Luther Kirby Myers, Earl Patrick Myers, and Tracy Alex Myers, and Arthur Benton Myers; and three sisters, Callie Dimple Melton, Edna Smith, and Betty Ashburn. Friends are invited to come by Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Tuesday May 26 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Hillier Duke and Brad Windlin officiating. Due to Covid-19 precautions social distance measures will be observed. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Overton County, TN.
