Funeral services for Mrs. Marion Louise Shepard, age 94 of Cookeville, were held Saturday, June 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey officiated Entombment followed in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Her family received friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Shepard died Friday June 4, 2021 at her residence. She was born September 29, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Donald L. Rice and Harriet Isabelle Thomas Rice. She lived in several cities in Michigan and also lived in Racine, Wisconsin. She and her late husband moved to Cookeville in 1980 and have been members of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Marion was a talented photographer. She enjoyed regular visits to the YMCA. She enjoyed geology and was a member of the Tennessee Gem and Mineral Society. She was thoughtful caring and a woman of peace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Shepard; grandson, James (Jimmy) Russell Nelson; and by son in law, (Arthur) Tommy Scott. Mrs. Shepard is survived by a son, Steven Shepard of Racine, Wisconsin; daughter, Jan Scott; granddaughter, Jennifer Scott-Walker and husband Steven, all of Cookeville; and by great grandchildren, Serenity Hammons and Adriahna Hammons.
