Funeral services for Louis A. Vinson, 84, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, April 26 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Brown"�s Mill Cemetery. Rev. Steve Thornton will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 "� 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Vinson died Tuesday morning, April 24, 2012 at his home. He was born June 6, 1927, in Jackson County to the late Vestle and Fannie Bryant Vinson. Mr. Vinson was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church. He was a retired Supervisor with the City of Cookeville Water Department with 34 years of service. He also served as a volunteer Lieutenant with the Cookeville Fire Department for over 24 years. He loved to fish for Walleye, tend his garden, and work outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Vinson and Ernest Vinson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christine Mansell Vinson, (whom he married January 19, 1952 in Cookeville); two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger W. Vinson, Donnie & Glenda Vinson all of Cookeville; grandson, Brandon Vinson; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dallas & Nell Vinson Cookeville, Robert & Jean Vinson of Baxter. Active pallbearers will be Roger Fuqua, Bruce Womack, Jim Masters, Mike Broyles, Shawn Roberson, and Shawn Hotsinpiller. Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present members of the Cookeville Fire Department.
