Mrs. Laura Jean Kittrell Moore age 81 of Cookeville, wife of retired Tennessee State Trooper Sgt. and T.B.I. Agent, Thomas D. Moore, died of cancer at 11:25 p.m. Saturday evening July 7, 2012 at their Oaklawn Drive home with her husband and children by her bedside. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday July 10th from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and burial will follow in the Moore family lot at Ridgewood Cemetery. Rev. Mike Head will officiate at the 1 p.m. services. The Moore family will receive friends on Monday at the Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday at Sanderson in Carthage from 10 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Born in the Difficult Community of Smith County on April 7, 1931, she was one of six children of the late Charlie Clarence Kittrell who died April 7, 1965 at the age of 70 and Bessie Jane Thomas Kittrell who died June 18, l984 at the age of 86. Four siblings preceded her in death, Oshel Kittrell, Cloyd Kittrell, Tom Kittrell and Grace Lee Kittrell Cardwell. In Corinth, Mississippi on November 5, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gordonsville native Thomas Dudley Moore. Mrs. Moore was a l949 graduate of Smith County High School and was employed as a teenager at the Western Auto Store in Carthage and later was employed with the Selective Service until its closure. She retired as Area Coordinator for the U.S.D.A. Soil Conservation Service. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Carthage First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband of sixty two years are three children, Tom Moore and wife Joann of Gordonsville, Cyndy Humble and husband LTC (Ret.) U. S. Army, Howard Humble of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Dr. Robin Rohwer and Husband Chris of Knoxville; grandchildren, Dr. Travis Humble and wife Holly, Le Anne Humble, Mitchell & Meghan Moore, Lauren and Kelsey Rohwer: great-grandchildren, Henry and Owen Humble: brother, former Smith County Executive Jack Kittrell of Carthage; sister-in-law, Nancy Nesbitt Kittrell of Tanglewoood.
