Funeral Services for Joseph “Vann” Mullins, age 94 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20 from 3:00 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville City Cemetery. Mr. Mullins died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at his home in Cookeville. He was born September 19, 1917 in Pickett County TN to the late Joseph Robert “Bob” Mullins and Ruth Martin Mullins. Vann was a World War II Veteran and served in the European Theatre for four years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cookeville where he served as a deacon for several years and enjoyed the outdoors making his living as a farmer, working on his farm until just recently. He has been a member (and past president) of the Putnam County Farm Bureau since 1951, a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Farm Bureau for twelve years, and served on the Board of Directors for Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation for nineteen years. Vann was also a member and past president of the Putnam Farmer’s Co-op and the Livestock Association. Over the years Mr. Mullins was also an avid fox hunter. Vann was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by two children, Joe Mullins (wife Becky) and Judy Mullins Lollar (husband Bob) both of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Brent, Charlie (wife Jessica) and Michael Mullins, Tammy Lollar Brady (husband Mark) and Robert Lollar (wife Tiffany) all of Cookeville. Mr. Mullins is also survived by five great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaylee, and Dawson Mullins and Will and Wes Brady. In addition to his parents, Vann was preceded in death by his wife Alberta Naomi LaBrot Mullins, two brothers Lynn and Harlan Mullins and one sister Reba Mullins Crouch. Pallbearers will be Vann’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bro. Charlie Hutchinson and Dr. Randall Adkisson will be conducting the service.
