Funeral services for Mr. Joe Frank Adkins, 71 of Cookeville will be held Thursday June 22 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Ronnie Cobb and Rev. Tex Boles will officiate. Interment will follow in Algood City Cemetery. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Tuesday morning June 20, 2017 at his home. Joe Frank was born July 2, 1945 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late William Howard and Minnie Jewell Buckner Adkins. Mr. Adkins attended Wormingham Church of Christ and he was a retired maintenance supervisor, with over 39 years of service, working for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Some of Joe Frank's accomplishments include: serving on the Putnam County Commission, representing the 12th District for 16 years, serving as a long-time member of Putnam County Fair Board as well as the Parks and Recreation Board. In addition. Joe Frank was active in Algood Youth Baseball. Some of his favorite hobbies included collecting and shooting guns. He was a competitive shooter; traveling to area shooting matches, especially Turkey Shoots. Joe Frank loved Stock Car Racing and raising animals with feathers, especially Quail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Alice Cobble Adkins; brother, Billy Edmond Adkins; and daughter-in-law Angela Adkins. Survivors include his son, Rick Adkins; daughter, Tammy Hoover; four grandsons, Wade (Amanda) Adkins, Wesley Adkins, Jon (Ashlee) Hoover and Grant Hoover; and sister, Norene (Sam)Talent all of Cookeville. Honorary Pallbearers will be his co-workers with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Active Pallbearers will be Wade and Wesley Adkins, Jon and Grant Hoover, David Cobble, Sam Talent Aaron Newberry, Johnnie Harp, and Ted Webb.
